The domain name dispute between the Plaintiff - Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd of Korea (“Samsung Company”) and the Defendants including a Vietnamese citizen and a Vietnamese company has finally been ended after more than one year in court proceeding by a judgment rendered by the Appellate Court of the Supreme People’s Court in Hanoi on March 29, 2011 on which Samsung Company’s appellate request to revoke the domain name samsungmobile.vn and give Samsung Company the priority in registration for use of this domain name has been accepted. The case is briefed as follows:
The IPR infringement case opposing the inventor Hoang Thinh (Dac Lac province) and two businesses in the same province was brought to Dac Lac People’s Court on June 17, 2010 for two day public hearing. According to the court’s decision dated June 18, 2010, the infringer has to pay monetary damages worth VND412 million (US$21,750), including VND61 million (US$3,250) attorney’s fees.
